Older People

The Our Voice Matters project is working with organisations across the region to tackle loneliness and isolation for older people in our communities, especially those with complex needs such as Dementia.  Through this work, the project aims to engage with older people and to listen to their experiences and stories of everyday life.  The information we gather is then used to inform local and regional decision making processes to hopefully bring about positive social change for everybody.

People who access Mental Health Services

The Our Voice Matters project is working to help people with mental health illnesses overcome the barriers that stop them successfully engaging and living purposeful lives.  Through its work the project has been using the individual stories of people who access mental health services across the region, to identify solutions that will help them be more involved in decisions about their own lives as well as the support services they access.

Children, Young People and Families

The Our Voice Matters project is working hard to create platforms that give children, young people and their families a voice in decision making processes that effect them.  Through their active involvement the project hopes that children and young people will be able to take ownership of their futures by tackling the issues that they face today.

Learning Disabilities

The Our Voice Matters project is working to empower people with learning disabilities to speak up and be included in the decisions that impact their lives and the lives of others.  Through its work to date, people with a learning disability have been able to share their experiences around key priority areas such as Home, Health, Employment, Daytime Opportunities, and Transport, and with the help of the project create some call to action to see issues be acknowledged and positive change become a reality.

Parents and Carers

The Our Voice Matters project has been working to create opportunities for parents and carers to be heard and make a positive difference to their own lives as well as the lives of those they care for.  This also includes young carers.  By listening to and understating the experiences and struggles of parents and carers, the project has been able to develop platforms for them to inform and influence decision makers at both local and regional levels and advocate on behalf of their loved ones to ensure that everyone, carer and cared for alike get to live meaningful and purposeful lives.
