The My Day My Way project was launched in November 2020 following the concerns and requests of people with a learning disability across the Cwm Taf Morgannwg region about their daytime opportunities and the ongoing effects of Covid-19 and lockdown restrictions. The project was set up to establish what life was like for people with a learning disability both prior to and during lockdown, as well as what they would like to do once lockdown restrictions were lifted.
To help ensure the project has a co-productive approach, it employed a number of people with a learning disability as Project Explorers to lead both its design and delivery. After engaging 60 people with a learning disability across Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil and Rhondda Cynon Taff, the project’s Phase 1 report details the stories and experiences of people with a learning disability, identifying trends and making recommendations to increase the potential of people with a learning disability living a meaningful and purpose life.
