Through a collaboration of People First groups across South East Wales and the University of South Wales, the Showing Resilience Through the Covid-19 pandemic project was launched in June 2020. The project was spearheaded by the Our Voice Matters project and Cwm Taf People First, who through a series of online, and later, in person conferences created space and opportunity for people with learning disabilities, parents and carers, support workers and services to come together to discuss their experiences of the covid-19 pandemic and the impact lockdown periods had on their lives.
This report details the findings of each conference, placing the thoughts and stories of those involved at the centre of the project. It will show the challenges that were faced but also the innovative solutions and willingness to gain and maintain independence and social connection that were demonstrated throughout the project period.
